Robert Pineo named Litigator of the Year

Pineo has been named the Benchmark Litigation “2016 Litigator of the Year” for Atlantic Canada.  This award is made annually to the lawyer in Atlantic Canada that demonstrates a solid reputation as a litigator with a proven record of success for his or her clients. Robert H. Pineo practices litigation in the areas of expropriation, class actions, property disputes, financial advisor negligence and shareholder disputes. He was called to the Bar in 2001 and has practiced litigation with Patterson Law since that time, currently acting as Chair of the Commercial Litigation and Expropriation practice groups.  Robert is a member of the Supreme Court Bench-Bar Liaison Committee, the contributing editor of the leading expropriation text Coates & Waque, The New Law of Expropriation, he mentors associates of the firm and is involved in various boards and committees inside and outside of the legal community.

Rob is one of the preeminent expropriation lawyers in Atlantic Canada.  Rob also practices extensively in the area of property-related litigation: easement disputes, contests over title, adverse possession claims and trespass claims.  While many lawyers handle these claims, Rob has developed an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter and handles very complicated cases in these areas.  He regularly receives referrals from other lawyers and also consults with others on the most complicated of these cases.
