Biography

Tracy Bannier practices in the areas of fertility law and family law. Whether assisting with surrogacy agreements, or with family law disputes, Tracy’s goal is always to find clear and concise solutions to legal problems. Tracy understands that families are diverse and unique, and that family law solutions are not always “one size fits all”.  Tracy works with clients to find solutions to fit their families, while remaining cost-effective.

Tracy has a specialty in Fertility Law and works with clients hoping to grow their families with the assistance of gestational surrogates as well as with surrogates. Tracy can provide advice and assistance on matters relating to donation of eggs, sperm and embryos, and has experience working with international clients and fertility clinics.

Tracy works with 2SLBGTQIA+ clients in both family law and fertility law. She has experience in obtaining declaratory orders for parentage both in the area of surrogacy and with polyamorous families.  Tracy has represented clients at the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the Social Security Tribunal, and at both the Supreme Court and Provincial Court levels in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
